The Nail Challenge Collaborative presents: Funky French - Spidery


Hi all!

Happy Halloween to those that celebrate it! Personally I don't, but I did have fun wearing halloweeny nails the past weeks. Today's the last Halloweeny mani for you!


Polishes:
  • Essence - 114 fame fatal
  • Sinful Colors - 101 Snow Me White
  • Catrice - 67 Greyday, Greyday!
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Dark Matter
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward


Base: 1 generous coat of Dark Matter. I added the spider webs with a nail art brush and Snow Me White. The spiderbodies were dotted with a dotting tool, their legs added with a brush. I also added some red, to make it a bit like a red back spider and to give the mani a little pop of colour. I ended with top coat.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Halloween


Hi all!

This week's theme is Halloween... obviously. I don't like the bloody icky looking mani's myself, I do have to wear it to work and look at it for a few days. And today's mani was just perfect for that, I wore for 5 days (and only just took it off earlier this evening).


Polishes:
  • I Love Nail Polish - Absolute Zero
  • China Glaze - 551 Fairy Dust
  • L.A. Colors - NP356 French Nails-Crème
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward


Base: 2 coats of Absolute Zero, a dark blue scattered holo. I added a coat of Fairy Dust for extra sparkle, and to make it look like the night's sky. Using a very sheer off-white polish and a nail art brush I added little ghosts. With a dotting tool and Absolute Zero I added some eyes. I ended with top coat of course.


I love the sparkles... ♥ Fairy Dust.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative presents: Funky French - Shatter tips


Hi all!

Today's mani is one that looked better in my head than on my nails. And of course my cinderella hand turned out better as well... 


Polishes:
  • NYC - 017 Jupiter princess
  • OPI - NL E53 Black Shatter
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward


Base: 2 coats of Jupiter princess. Added Black Shatter on the tips and ended with top coat.


The cracked tips on my Cinderella hand...

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Orange, Purple & Green Ikat


Hi all!

Another week with a double prompt. Everyone has the colours orange, purple and green and my pattern prompt is Ikat.


Polishes:
  • Barry M - Gelly - GNP 28 Coconut
  • Catrice - 04 Orange-Utan
  • Catrice - 65 Be My Violetine
  • OPI - NL908 Front Lawn
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward


Base: 2 coats of Coconut. Next I dabbed on basic shapes in orange, then went in with green and ended with purple. Layer of Elemental Ward and done.


I thought these Halloweeny colours would be too much for Ikat, but I do think it turned out rather nicely because of the Coconut base.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative presents: Funky French - Pumpkin Flames


Hi all!

As seems usual lately... I start the NCC month way too late. In my defense, I spent my last 3 weekends helping out my best friend at her new home (I've seen enough latex paint for a while). I hope I'll be able to do all 4 manis for this month, but we'll see how far I get. This month's theme is Funky French, aka a French mani with a fun twist.


Polishes:
  • W7 - 54 Roast Chestnut
  • Glitter Lambs - Pumpkin Spice
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward


Base: 2 coats of Roast Chestnut. I added licks of flames with a nail art brush and Pumpkin Spice. Pumpkin Spice is a lovely orange glitter topper. Ended with Elemental Ward.


Look at the sparkles, isn't this perfect for autumn?

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Geeks


Hi all!

This week is all about Geeks. Honestly, I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do. So in the end I decided to just pick a polish inspired by some geeky show. Because today's star of the show matched my outfit best it got picked. Simple as that.


Polishes:
  • Polish Alcoholic - Scully
  • W7 - 92 Silver Mirror
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward


Base: 3 coats of Scully, a polish inspired by... The X Files. It's a lovely red leaning purple with silvery shreds. I added The X Files logo with Silver Mirror. Ended with top coat.


The shreds are not showing themself much. I love shreds and their wimsicalness. I don't like the fact that some shreds do not want to stay flat.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Teal


Hi all!

Today is the second week of our new nail art challenge. This week our mutual colour is teal. We also were assigned a pattern to combine with the colour. My pattern was houndstooth / tweed / plaid. I chose plaid!


Polishes:
  • L.A. Girl - GNL303 Teal Dimension
  • Barry M - Gelly - GNP 15 Guava
  • Barry M - Gelly - GNP 21 Sugar Apple
  • Essence - 147 miss universe
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward


Base: 2 coats of Guava or 2 coats of Teal Dimension. I used two striping brushes (different thickness) to add my plaid stripes. Ended with top coat.


Still adore the scattered holo of this polish!


This mani was the one I wore during my week in Greece, it lasted quite well! I did shorten my nails a bit before going on holiday as you can see. My nails are even shorter right now though (my best friend just got a new house and I've been helping out a bit, nails and steaming off wallpaper do not get along so well).

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Hobbies


Hi all!

Today is the start of a new nail art challenge! Over the past year I have participated in the 52 week pick n mix challenge (well, not each week) and last week was the last one. This challenge is replaced by the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas challenge! Some of the Nail Tarts are joining in every other week, others, like me, will be doing it weekly. The themes with colours also come with a personal pattern prompt. So while the colour (like next week's teal prompt) will be the same for everyone, we also have a personal pattern prompt. But today the prompt is simply Hobbies. What better hobby than doing my nails, eh?


Polishes part 1:
  • Sinful Colors - 101 Snow Me White
  • Sinful Colors - 1103 Island Coral
  • Barry M - Gelly - GNP15 Guava
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Dark Matter
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward (top coat)


Polishes part 2:
  • Catrice - 81 My Yellow Fellow
  • Catrice - 65 Be My Violetine
  • Catrice - 11 Miss Piggy's BF
  • Catrice - 47 Orango Bloom
  • Essence - 114 fame fatal

And stamping plate BM-619 from Bundle Monster.



Base: 2 coats of Snow Me White. I made stamping decals beforehand, but the image wasn't that nicely edged and the thin lines of the polish bottles didn't stamp that well. To hide some ugly bubbling because I applied the decals before the base was hardened I added a few brushstrokes. I planned to use those for some nails anyway.


I kind of like the effect of the brushstrokes on top of the stamping decal.


Playing with colour and polishes is fun! Stay tuned for teal next week!
