The Nail Challenge Collaborative presents: Animals - Leopard

Hi all!

A simple animal print for you today, but I promise I've got one more Animal inspired mani to show you! I kept the best for last *nods*. But that does not mean I don't like today's mani, I do!

From left to right:
  • Catrice - 880 No Snow Petrol
  • Foxy Paws - Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
  • L.A. Colors - NP136 Black Velvet
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward

My base is simply 2 coats of No Snow Petrol, a lovely petrol (or teal if you like) polish with a blue shimmer. With a dotting tool I added blobs of Gimme! and outlined them in black using a fine nail art brush. When all was dry I added some Elemental Ward.

It had been a while since I last wore a leopard print mani, but it doesn't grow old for me at all. The holo spots give it some extra dimension.

Before I fall asleep, just one question for you today. Are you still digging leopard print mani's?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative presents: Animals - Goldfish

Hi all!

For my second 'Animals' mani I thought it was time I recreated a pattern again, it's been ages since I last did one. One of the first pins in my Inspiration Patterns board on Pinterest is this image here. Simple yet lovely. I pinned it over a year ago, and now I finally turned it into a mani!

The polishes:
  • Sinful Colors - 101 Snow Me White
  • Catrice - 865 Yellow Sub-Mandarin
  • NYC - 325 Raindrop
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward

My base is 2 coats of Snow Me White. I added the blue waves with a nail art brush and Raindrop. It's a bit messy on purpose, because I knew it would be an impossible task to get them all to align perfectly anyway. After that dried I added the little goldfish and ended with a coat of Elemental Ward.

I think the tiny goldfish are adorable, swimming away on my nails.

I do love recreating patterns on my nails, I should do it more often provided I have the time. Would you wear these goldfish?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative presents: Animals - Dinosaurs

Hi all!

It seems like I have some catching up to do for this month's theme. My first "Animals" mani is dedicated to dinosaurs!

The polishes:
  • I Love Nail Polish - Bottle Service
  • Catrice - LE Glamazona - C02 I Got The Flower!
  • NYC - 257 Lavender Cupcake
  • China Glaze - 1152 Sunday Funday
  • Essence - Stampy polish - black

And I used two different stamping plates featuring dinosaurs as well. First Bundle Monster BM-611 which is part of the 2014 Create Your Own set.

The second plate is VL014 by Vivid Lacquer.

I started with two coats of  Bottle Service, a lovely champagne nude holo. Then I started stamping... it's a mix of things, but my first layer is an attempt to stamp with a few colours at once. Some nails with the BM plate, others with the VL plate. A few nails also got a second stamp in black with the BM plate. I topped it off with Lucky 13 Lacquer's Elemental Ward.

As you can see, Lavender Cupcake was a bit too light to stamp with over the champagne base, but the other two colours do show up nicely. I adore the T-rex heads!

I really liked having dino's on my nails, I actually wore them for 4 days past week.

Born Pretty Store Review - Paisley water decals

*Press Sample*

Hi all!

I'm here again! I've been under the weather, the flu caught up with me unfortunately. I've been doing my nails less frequently, or simply wearing a single polish with no nail art. The mani I'll be showing you today has been sitting on my pc for a few weeks....

The polishes:
  • Kaleidoscope by El Corazon - Thermo - t-24
  • Essence - Stampy polish - white
  • Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward (top coat)

I also used two Born Pretty Store products, first stamping plate BP-L003 (item 17921) which I also used in this post here.

The second Born Pretty Store product is a sheet of paisley water decals, item 17032 pattern DS-107. Both Born Pretty Store products were sent for review.

I started with a base of the Kaleidoscope thermal, 2 coats, which is supposed to change from grey in warm state to old rose in cold state. I will make a separate post for this polish, but the change is not that apparent. Using my white stamping polish I stamped the quatrefoil like pattern on top of my base. After that dried I added the water decals. I simply cut them out separately, let them soak in water for 10-20 seconds and then use tweezers to place them on my nail. BPS water decals are good quality and easy to use. I sealed everything in with a coat of Elemental Ward.

I do like these water decals, they have a lot of detail that is not easily reproduced free hand (not for me at least).

I really enjoyed this mani and I still have plenty water decals left on the sheet for future mani's. I think I used about a fifth of the sheet for both hands.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative presents: Wallpaper - leaves on nude

Hi all!

I'm still catching up on January's wallpaper theme. I'll be combining it with another Born Pretty Store review.

The polishes:
  • Dance Legend - Gel Effect - 882
  • OPI - NL A 60 Don't Bossa Nova Me Around
  • Catrice - 740 King of Greens
  • Glisten & Glow - HK Girl top coat
  • El Corazón - Matte Top Coat

And I used two images of the Born Pretty Store stamping plate BP-L001. You can find it here, it is item 17919. The images are 14mm x 18mm except for the right row, those are 14mm x 14mm.

My base is two coats of the Dance Legend 882. It is a lighter version of OPI's Don't Bossa Nova Me Around. To show the difference I used Don't Bossa to stamp with, using a swirly image (top row, third from left). I added some green leaves using King of Greens (with third image from left, bottom row). I first topped it with HK Girl top coat, then added the matte top coat from El Corazón.

I rather like the subtle stamping, and I love all the leafy designs on the BP-L001 plate! I have tried more of them than the two I used today. All of them are etched rather well and transferred perfectly. I'm rather impressed with the quality of these rectangular plates! You can see the BP-L003 one here.
