Once upon a time I won the Pretty Hands & Sweet Feet nail art book giveaway over at Chalkboard Nails. Delivery was delayed a bit and it arrived nearly 6 weeks ago. I had planned to write this post over a month ago, and obviously I didn't. I did two mani's inspired by designs in the book, so let's start with the first one.
Polishes:
- Barry M - Gelly - GNP28 Coconut
- KIKO - 331 Violet
- Mollon Pro - 28 So In Lilac
- Catrice - 42 Nickel Minaj
- Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward
I used these polishes to create the design called Watercolor Dots by Chalkboard Nails from the book.
Base: 2 coats of each colour. I top coated my coconut covered nails, added dots of the other polishes and tried to create watercolour by adding acetone. It sort of worked. Then silvery dots and more top coat.
I've tried this technique before, but I'm just not that good at it, I keep creating brush strokes when playing with the acetone.
Strange enough, my cinderella hand looked better... no clue how that happened.
I did love wearing that look, the imperfections are not that visible and it still looks interesting on the nail.
Onto the second look I recreated, a design called Retro Scales by Nailed It.
Polishes:
- Sinful Colors - 101 Snow Me White
- Lucky 13 Lacquer - Dark Matter
- El Corazon - Matte Effect - 124
- OPI - NLF79 - Embrace the Gray
- OPI - NLF76 - Dark Side of the Mood
- OPI - NLF75 - Romantically Involved
- Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward
Base: 2 coats of Snow Me White. With a striping brush I added the pattern first. Next I filled in the different compartments randomly. I re-did the outlines again and finished with top coat.
I loved wearing these, and I did both hands this way.
Do you have any nail art books? If so, which one?
Love, Brethil
Both nail art designs look great! I like the second one the most though.
