40 Great Nail Art Ideas - 3 Shades of Red/Orange

Hi all!

You haven't noticed, but I've been away for nearly a week. I managed to schedule my posts in advance (for a change!). Of course the one post that wasn't prepared before I left (on a short trip to Cardiff, Wales & London, England) is today's... even if I've been wearing this mani since Wednesday evening. While in Cardiff I visited the Doctor Who Experience, which is so awesome, a must see for all Whovians. Anyway, I had to combine the colour prompt of 3 shades of Red/Orange with my personal pattern prompt Skittles. So it's something of everything today!

Polishes:

• OPI - NL R53 An Affair in Red Square
• Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward

Base: 2 coats of Coconut, the perfect off-white. Index finger is a waterfall mani, middle finger a cable knit pattern, ring finger is distressed, little finger a bit of a dotticure. Ended with top coat, Elemental Ward, as always.

And to complete the skittle I added some fronds to my thumb nail.

It's a bit of a mix, with the only ties being the polishes themselves *winks*

Plaid & Floral

Hi all!

I was playing around with my new plates, wanting do a floral decal on top of plaid. And I ended up with what I'm showing you today. I knew I had seen the floral decal thing before with these plates, I have read a couple of reviews before I bought mine. I just couldn't remember where. Until I started searching... after mine was finished I looked at it and though I had seen it before. So.. my mani is actually rather close to Very Emily's... I didn't plan it to be... well perhaps my brain was and wasn't consciously letting me know. I'll stick with that.

I used used HēHē stamping plates 073 and 075.

Base: 2 coats of Gargoyle. I double stamped with the grey stamping polishes and plate 075. I made stamping decals with the floral image on plate 073 and the rest of the polishes. I tried to cut them out as well as I could and then stuck them on a sticky layer of top coat. I sealed them in with more top coat.

I adored wearing these, and yes, I did both hands.

Also, I'm in love with the HēHē stamping plates. They are just amazing! Have you tried this brand yet?

For the last candy mani I've got some lollipops, inspired by this image.

• BK - Matte White
• Miss Sporty - 453 Popcorn

Base: 1 thick coat of the BK Matte White (sent for review by Born Pretty Store). It dries chalky and matte, but with top coat it's not visible at all. I painted on the lollipops with a nail art brush and the other polishes. Sealed it in with Elemental Ward.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Animals

Hi all!

This week's prompt is Animals. I stumbled upon this cute image and knew I had to make it into a mani.

Polishes:

• Sinful Colors - 947 Mint Apple
• Sinful Colors - 101 Snow Me White
• OPI - NL B56 Mod About You
• Polish My Life - Tahoe
• Lucky 13 Lacquer - Dark Matter
• Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward

Base: 2 coats of Mint Apple. With my smallest dotting tool I added tiny dots all over my nails. The little hedgehogs were added next, with nail art brushes and dotting tool (nose and cheeks). Ended with Elemental Ward.

The hedgehogs are not perfect, but I still think they're cute.

Born Pretty Store review - Swirl vinyls & BK stamping polish

Hi all!

Today I have another review for you, for two items Born Pretty Store sent me for review. I have swirl nail vinyls (item 23877) and white BK polish (item 1027).

I also used Born Pretty Store's BP-L003 stamping plate (sent for review ages ago).

Base: 2 coats of Snow Me White. On my thumb and ring finger I applied a swirl nail vinyl. I did have a fight with these, they were so sticky, they wanted to stick to themselves. But I managed to get a few to behave a bit. I sponged on the pastels by applying random spots on the sponge. I think it gives a nice effect. I removed the nail vinyls after sponging and sealed it all in with top coat. On my other nails I stamped with the BK white polish and some of the swirl images of BP-L003. Ended with top coat.

Perhaps it's technically not candy in itself, but today's mani is inspired by this image of sprinkles! We add sprinkles to sweets, like icecream, so I say it counts *winks*.

Base: 2 coats of Mod About You. With a nail art brush I added the sprinkles. Sealed it all in with Elemental Ward.

I like the whimsical look and the colours work nicely together.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Pink & Lilac

Hi all!

This week's colour prompt is pink & lilac, I had to combine it with Saran wrap. Using saran wrap works best on cremes, but I had a craving to wear holos, so that's what I used it with.

Polishes:

• I Love Nail Polish - Amanda Hugginkiss
• I Love Nail Polish - Princess Diaries
• Mundo de Uñas - 33 Light Gray
• Mundo de Uñas - 34 Dark Gray
• Lucky 13 Lacquer - Elemental Ward

And I also used HēHē stamping plate 078.

Base: 1 coat of Princess Diaries. Then I added a coat of Amanda Hugginkiss and while it was still wet I dabbed with a ball of saran wrap/cling film to remove some of the polish. Smoothed it out with Elemental Ward before I stamped with both greys creating a gradient stamped pattern. Ended with more Elemental Ward.

Hi all!

Recently I bought all 12 Aquarelle Tints directly from El Corazón, shipping from Russia to NL took just over a week (including Easter weekend), I was rather impressed how fast it arrived. The Aquarelle Tints are like the OPI Sheer Tints, good to use in the leadlight stamping technique. I've done one mani with leadlighting so far (to be revealed soonish), but today I used these polishes for recreating a rainbow candycane.

• Kaleidoscope by El Corazón - Aquarelle Tints - 02

Base: 2 coats of Snow Me White. Using a striping brush I added diagonal lines of each colour. Finished with Elemental Ward.

Using these tints instead of creme polishes gives it such a lovely look.

I actually wore this mani for about 5 days, but with some Fairy Dust on top.

Hi all!

Kids TV. This week's prompt didn't inspire me at all. I don't have any kids and I never watch any kids tv shows. So I turned to my trusted Google search and stumbled upon a show called Peppa Pig. I've never seen this show, but the images that Google found for me showed a simply drawn pig, aka my mani was born.

Base: 2 coats of Blue.Lita. Two different sized nail art brushes and a bunch of other colours later gave me the nail art. The pig wasn't that difficult to do honestly. I had more trouble with the lettering. I ended with Elemental Ward as always.

I think this is a cute mani even if I have no clue if Peppa Pig is any good.

Born Pretty Store review - Aztec water decals

Hi all!

Today I have more Born Pretty Store water decals to share with you. Water decals are great when you want nail art and either don't have a lot of time or if you want patterns that take quite some skill to do by hand. Time's always short in the Ebontree house, so easy nail art is what I do most.

I also used a sheet of water decals by Born Pretty Store, item 23744. This was kindly sent to me to review.

Base: a stamping marble. I added some drops to a stamper and then smooshed it across my nails (you can see Very Emily's tutorial for this technique here). I think it gives a nice effect. I cut up the grey part of the water decal in smaller strips and added those to my nails. Sealed it in with Elemental Ward.

These grey patterns give a muted look which I like, it's soft. It also fits in with the season and pastels being muted colours.

I really like these water decals, it's easy to get those intricate patterns this way, super easy. All BPS water decals are a dream to work with, so thin!
