33DC2013 Day 25 - a new technique for you

During this challenge I have tried a few techniques already like diy decals and paper transfer. There are lots of techniques I haven't tried before as well, so choosing was not easy. I chose the Drip & Spread manicure by Upclose&Polished. She did a video tutorial by the way! It is very simple but gives an amazing looking design. Also, Marthe does amazing mani's, you should absolutely check out her blog further!

Polishes from left to right:
  • L.A. Colors - NP136 Black Velvet
  • L.A. Colors - NP402 Energy Source
  • NYC - 035 Cupcakes and Latte
  • NYC - 320 Blue Sky
Time is of the essence for this mani, it is best your base polish does not dry too quickly.

I started with making sure all my polishes were open and ready! I applied Black Velvet and then simply dripped drops of the white and colours on. On my index and ring finger gravity made Blue Sky flow into the white territory. I like those nails best!

The drops do stick out like blobs on your nails and flatten while they dry. Drying and hardening takes a good while though, there is a thick layer of polish of course. I also had some bubbling of nail polish unfortunately *sad face*.

So, will you be trying this Drip & Spread manicure created by Marthe from Upclose&Polished as well?

I wonder if anyone else has tried this technique.... *points at the Inlinkz*

  1. I did try it out for this challenge, but only on a nail wheel. I couldn't get it quite right so gave up and went with a needle drag!

    1. I tend to try on my right hand first and switched black polishes before I did my left hand ;). Your needle drag looks amazing btw!
